  • 37.5 Hour Work Week
About The Role
  • Engage in social planning activities such as conducting social research, evaluating social impacts, strategizing social infrastructure development, reviewing social policies, and executing projects addressing social issues.
  • Adhere to the guidelines outlined in the NSW Work Health Safety Act 2011, the Work Health Safety Regulation 2017, and the Work Health and Safety (WHS) System.
Key Accountabilities
  • Engage in essential activities within the social planning process of the Local Government Area (LGA), which include conducting research and community consultations, supervising plan implementation, and providing progress reports to the Council, key community partners, and residents.
  • Offer information, resourcing, and assistance to the Human Services Sector operating within the Blacktown LGA.
  • Coordinate with various government levels to ensure cohesive and prompt planning and delivery of services and facilities for the communities within the LGA, especially in response to the outcomes outlined in the Council's Social Plan.
  • Conduct social research, assess social impacts, plan social infrastructure, and review social policies.
  • Offer professional guidance to the Council regarding the needs, challenges, and aspirations of the communities within the LGA, while also reporting on relevant government policies and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with members of the Community Development Team to contribute to the planning and enhancement of services and facilities for the communities within the LGA.
  • Fulfil the obligations of the position and achieve work plan objectives as per the Community Development section's business plan.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
  • Possession of a tertiary qualification in social science, social planning, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated substantial work experience in community development or a role involving social/community planning.
  • Possession of a valid class C driver's license.
  • Previous experience working within Local Government.
  • Familiarity with the Human Services Sector within the Local Government Area (LGA).
