Job description

  • Grade 7/8 Finance Analyst role
  • Parramatta location close to station
  • Government contract: $460 pd + super (8hrs pd 40hrs pw)


About the Program:

This is a key initiative for a strategic framework which is an Aboriginal-led, trauma informed care coordination service for vulnerable Aboriginal families delivered by Aboriginal specialist support workers. Currently, this operates in 17 Local Government Areas (LGAs) across four existing sites including Tamworth, Armidale, Nowra, and Penrith.

They play a critical role in supporting Aboriginal people and families to access the services that they need to address a range of complex issues, supporting families to bridge the existing disparity in socioeconomic outcomes between the Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal population, and breaking the cycle of intergenerational disadvantages. These processes are currently being reviewed with a possible expansion to new Regional sites in FY21.

About the Role:

Financial analysis and business partnering with a strong management accounting focus. Technical skills will also be required as well as an exposure to financial accounting. The existing team requires a suitably skilled part qualified accountant preferably with a strong background in audit to help review the past performance of the program with a view to realign the processes before expansion.

Note: day to day tasks will change as we have often have competing priorities

Responsibilities Include:

  • Monthly management reporting
  • Reviewing of client support documentation for current & past clients
  • Review of client brokerage and value for money audit
  • Review of past two years transactions using SoWay program
  • Monthly completion of Costs Centre Reports and Financial statements
  • Assisting the business with projection of financial forecasts and reconciliation of performance against budget
  • Review of Credit card transactions
  • Compiling financial data to the Communications team for inclusion in cabinet minutes, briefing notes and year end reports
  • Assisting with Ad hoc reports due to DPIE
  • Assisting with compiling annual budget packs, yearly budgeting process and forecasting
  • Reconciling ledger and creation of journal entries
  • Analysis of SAP for all accounting enquiries and data collection
  • Creation of ION’s & WBS for the Services Our Way (SoWay) team
  • Providing information to auditors and completing year end audit requirements
  • Team player as we are often required to have a few members of the team completing a project
  • All other ad hoc duties as requested by management


About You:

  • Strong audit skills (highly regarded)
  • Tertiary qualified and working towards a CA or CPA
  • Strong numerical, verbal and communication skills
  • Attention to detail with a focus on having compliant processes
  • Ability to contribute new Internal Control procedures for inclusion in a policy
  • Ability to business partner with stakeholders

  • Microsoft Office various
  • SAP & SAP Self Service for review of purchase orders & invoices
  • Promaster – Credit card (desirable)
  • Trim (desirable)
