Job description

My client, a progressive Insurer in Sydney’s CBD are looking for an experienced Injury Prevention Specialist to influence the loss prevention and intervention strategies for targeted employers whose injury performance records suggest large scope for improvement.
 
You will be focused in implementing strategies which deliver a reduction in injury frequency and severity across the workers’ insurance portfolio. Additionally, you will monitor employer performance and adopt strategies to support the continuous improvement in the outcomes they achieve and provide feedback and reinforcement of successful strategies applied by employers.
 
Additional responsibilities include:

  • Hold difficult conversations with key employers / employer groups to influence their approach to workplace health and safety and to encourage a loss prevention mindset in their management of risk.
  • Identify and recommend loss prevention and intervention strategies which have proved successful for employers in similar circumstances.
  • Identify and address the key points of resistance to change manifest by employers with a record of poor workplace safety performance.
  • Research, develop and make recommendations to improve the performance of high cost employers by reducing frequency and severity of injury.
  • Lead, collaborate and guide best practice solutions (against global benchmarks) through employers and advisors to drive sustainable solutions that minimise injury frequency, severity and encourage appropriate RTW opportunities.
  • Keep abreast and ahead of loss prevention strategies in both statutory and private workers compensation schemes to ensure best practice is appropriately integrated into the organisation’s loss prevention strategy.
  • Drive a high-performance culture with colleagues and independent advisors to work productively and collaboratively on loss prevention strategies.
  • Identify, investigate and develop effective mitigation options for non-complying high cost/high frequency employers or industry groups in conjunction with regulatory bodies.

 
About you:

  • Loss prevention (or related) qualifications or equivalent knowledge and skills acquired through practical experience
  • Comprehensive understanding of loss prevention strategies combined with a solid working understanding the insurance industry
  • Comprehensive understanding of workers insurance legislation combined with a solid working understanding workplace injury management processes and the regulatory environment
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to convey high level strategic information to key stakeholders
  • General industry experience combined with experience in a senior loss prevention or other behavioural change role.
