SMSF Accountant

Job description

Charterhouse are currently looking for an SMSF Accountant with intermediate-level experience, to work on a range of tailored superannuation engagements across a very specified client portfolio. This role would suit an individual seeking a new challenge with opportunities to advance their career and further develop your advisory, funds and superannuation skills within a high performing, dynamic team environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain a range of SMSFs including (but not limited to): 
  • Setting up an SMSF
  • Managing and administering SMSFs 
  • Preparing financial statements and tax returns for SMSFs
• Provide support to clients with processing, accounting and audit processes, taxation, and administration
• Undertake and analyse SMSF accounting and reporting tasks
• Review SMSF internal systems i.e. work practices, processes and procedures regularly and make recommendations for improvement 
• Take part in team projects that aim to improve productivity, quality, risk management and client service
• Liaise with clients as required regarding information requests or general queries
• Assist with providing information to external auditors as required
• Complete SMSF compliance related documentation as required
• Keep abreast of current SMSF legislative requirements

Key Requirements 

This role will suit someone with the following skills, experience and attributes:

•  3 – 6 years (minimum) post degree experience in accounting or professional practice
• CA/CPA qualifications commenced (desirable)
• Excellent technical skills and knowledge of SMSFs, but also experience in Accounting and Taxation.
• Demonstrated ability to manage priorities and one’s own workflow as well as excellent time management skills
• The ability to work as part of a team in a professional, demanding and time sensitive environment
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Package i.e. Word, Excel and Outlook 
• Familiarity with MYOB and CLASS software packages
• CA/CPA qualifications commenced (desirable)
