About the Company:
This is a large government agency responsible for the environmental protection of NSW. They are partnered with both the government and environmental agencies to help reduce pollution/ waste and cultivate our existing environment.
About the Role:
My client has an exciting opportunity to join their Corporate Services branch as a Senior Finance Project Officer, initially for 4 months. The successful candidate will support the finance functions of the Finance, Risk and Governance Section. This role reports to the Manager Finance, Risk and Governance.
Duties to include:
- Analysing of complex financial information reports to provide accurate and timely recommendations to the board and management for decision making purposes
- Preparing monthly business reporting including trends and analysing causes of unexpected variance
- Partnering with the Finance Manager to provide sound financial advice in the development of long-terms plans and financial models, identification of potential financial risks & opportunities
- Assist branches with hard-close and year-end procedures as well as external audit requirements
- Support branches across EPA in preparing the Budget and forecast Making sure the budget is accurately loaded in SAP system and it is in accordance with Treasury guidelines
- Assist and coordinate key deliverables to NSW Treasury Assist in preparing financial information for the annual report
Must Have:
- CPA/CA qualified having sound knowledge of accounting concepts and principles
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work through, follow up and close out problem
- Technical and communication skills as well as have exposure systems including SAP Advanced Excel skills
- Relevant Government experience (desired)
