Associate Director
  • AFR Top 100 Firm
  • Up to $180K inc. Super
  • Opportunity for future equity

The Opportunity

We are partnering with one of Australia's most exciting growth stories in public practice — a Brisbane-based firm that has just debuted in the AFR Top 100 Accounting Firms, ranked as the 3rd fastest-growing firm in Australia (all organic growth), and named 2025 Accounting Firm of the Year at both the Australian Accounting Awards and the Commercial Finance Awards.

This is a rare leadership opportunity for an experienced tax professional to step into an Associate Director role at a firm that is rewriting the rules of what a modern accounting practice looks like. With a decade of sustained, organic growth and a freshly expanded office, the firm is at an inflection point — and they're looking for a senior leader to help drive the next chapter.

About the Firm

This award-winning Brisbane firm has carved out a dominant position as Australia's leading specialist accounting and advisory practice in its chosen sector. With deep expertise in tax compliance, CFO advisory, financial control, and bookkeeping, the firm serves a loyal and growing client base of SMEs and business owners across Australia.

What sets them apart:
  • AFR Top 100 — and rising fast
  • 3rd fastest-growing accounting firm in Australia (organic)
  • 2025 Firm of the Year — Australian Accounting Awards
  • Best Use of AI — recognised for technology innovation
  • Strong culture of internal progression and leadership development
  • Modern, collaborative office environment in Brisbane's inner west
  • A team that genuinely enjoys coming to work

The Role

Reporting to the Partner group, the Associate Director - Tax Compliance will be a pivotal leader within the firm's tax division. You will oversee a portfolio of complex client engagements, lead and mentor a team of accountants, and partner with the broader advisory team to deliver integrated, high-quality outcomes for clients.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Leading the delivery of tax compliance services across a diverse portfolio of SME and business clients
  • Reviewing and signing off on income tax returns, financial statements, FBT returns, and BAS/IAS obligations
  • Providing technically sound and commercially focused tax advice across income tax, CGT, GST, and structuring matters
  • Mentoring, supervising, and developing junior and intermediate staff
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships, acting as a trusted senior point of contact
  • Identifying opportunities to deepen client engagement and grow the firm's service offering
  • Contributing to the firm's ongoing improvement of workflows, systems, and processes
  • Collaborating across service lines including bookkeeping, CFO advisory, and QBCC reporting

About You

You are a seasoned tax professional ready to step up — or across — into a high-growth firm where your contributions are genuinely visible and valued.

You will bring:
  • 10+ years of experience in public practice, with a strong focus on tax compliance
  • CA or CPA qualification (essential)
  • Proven experience reviewing complex tax returns and advising on a range of tax matters
  • Strong technical skills across income tax, CGT, GST, and trust/company structures
  • Demonstrated experience leading, supervising, or mentoring a team
  • Excellent client communication and relationship management skills
  • A commercial mindset — able to translate technical advice into practical outcomes
  • Experience with cloud-based accounting platforms (Xero preferred)

What's on Offer
  • Up to $180,000 including superannuation (commensurate with experience)
  • A genuine pathway to Partner within a fast-growing, award-winning firm
  • Broad and interesting client base with real complexity
  • High-performance team culture with low bureaucracy
  • Recognition and genuine investment in your professional development
  • Modern, accessible Brisbane office location
