Job description

  • Local Government Authority based in inner city suburbs - 3 month contract
  • Assist the wider team with writing across various platforms 
  • Providing assistance across internal communications, speech writing & media

 

Reporting to the Communications & Engagement Manager, this role will advise stakeholders on best practice and creating engaging content. This position is part of a terrific, collaborative organisation and will be developing and implementing targeted communications strategies inform and engage internal audiences. 


Main responsibilities will include:

  • Provide expert advice across Communications & Media to further develop and enhance the Council’s profile in the community
  • Respond to media enquiries and prepare media releases
  • Write speeches and presentations for senior staff across the Council
  • Work with the team to develop strategic communications and original written content across various channels
  • Oversee external communications, including collateral and publications to ensure consistency of message and branding
  • Assist with internal communications change and other projects
  • Review current communication tools and make recommendations to enhance, improve or introduce new methods

The successful candidate will:

  • Demonstrated experience within Communications including writing speeches & media releases
  • Knowledge and experience in the development and implementation of strategies
  • Ideally, experience in a community based organisation
  • Ability to prioritise and deal with competing priorities
