Job description
A newly created Finance Manager opportunity is available with an established, owner-operated professional services group based in Brisbane CBD. This is a key leadership role within a growing business that operates across marketing, media, and consulting services, partnering with a range of well-known commercial and government clients.This role will suit a finance professional looking to move beyond traditional business services or step out of a narrower accounting role within practice, as well as those already in owner-managed or service-based environments seeking broader commercial exposure, stronger strategic influence, and a clear pathway toward senior leadership or general management over time.
You will take full ownership of the finance function, including reporting, compliance, payroll, accounts, and financial systems. A key focus will be transitioning bookkeeping and payroll in-house, strengthening controls, and improving the quality of financial insight provided to the leadership team. You will also play a hands-on role in budgeting, forecasting, and partnering with operational leaders to improve performance and profitability.
Working closely with a fractional CFO and a hands-on CEO, you will be trusted with day-to-day financial leadership while contributing to broader commercial decision making. The environment is fast paced and collaborative, requiring strong communication skills and the ability to translate financial data into clear, practical guidance for non-finance stakeholders.
Strong Xero experience is essential. Exposure to media, agency, or project-based environments will be highly regarded. CPA or CA qualification (or near completion) is expected, along with solid experience in a similar finance role.
The role offers hybrid working and flexibility, with potential for full-time or four-day week arrangements. Salary is circa $120K–$140K inclusive of super, plus bonus potential linked to performance and scope to grow into a broader role over time.
