Summary
This Government Agency is looking for a Financial Accountant to take ownership of the financial reporting and oversee finance ops. Must be Aus Citizen

Role:
This role is responsible for the Financial Reporting of the department and also oversees the Financial Operations, including Accounts Payable, Accounts receivable and treasury functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and deliver accurate periodic and ad-hoc financial reports and provide timely and strategic financial advice on policy and corporate matters to the CFO and senior management as required.
- Prepare annual financial statements including high-quality accounting position papers, work papers, and supporting notes for external audit purposes.
- Oversee the accounts receivable, accounts payable and treasury functions, perform various month-end and year-end activities, payroll reconciliation, general ledger maintenance, ad-hoc quality assurance reviews, and prepare the Business Activity Statements (BAS)
- Build team capabilities by providing direction and mentoring to team members, monitoring workflows, resolving issues, and managing performance.
Key Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge of general accounting principles and standards, and financial reporting and management frameworks, preferably within a government environment.
- Well-developed analytical skills including the ability to analyse, interpret, monitor and report on financial information
- Membership of a professional accounting body (such as CPA/CA)
- Strong IT skills, particularly with MS Excel, and experience using a financial management system, preferably TechnologyOne
