The role:
Reporting directly to the CFO, this is a broad and hands-on Financial Controller role with responsibility across financial operations, reporting, compliance and commercial support.
You will lead a capable finance team onsite and play a key role in providing financial insight across operational and executive stakeholders, ensuring accurate reporting, strong controls and effective cashflow management across a project-based environment.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the finance team, overseeing management accounting, payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Deliver accurate and timely monthly management accounts and financial reporting
- Ensure full statutory compliance including BAS, FBT, payroll tax, WorkCover and portable LSL
- Manage cashflow, budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
- Oversee financial controls relating to equipment and fleet
- Partner with the CFO on commercial performance reporting and strategy execution
- Act as a key finance business partner to operational, project and senior leadership teams
The ideal applicant:
You are a commercially minded Financial Controller with strong technical accounting capability and proven leadership experience. Experience within construction or a project-based environment will be highly regarded. Applications are welcome from those keen to step-up to their first controller role.
- CA or CPA qualified (or equivalent) with significant post-qualification experience
- Strong background in financial reporting, month-end processes and statutory compliance
- Experience working in project-based environments with exposure to job costing and/or ERP systems (e.g. Xero, Jobpac or similar)
- Proven ability to lead, coach and develop finance team members
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to interpret and communicate financial insights clearly
- Confident stakeholder engagement skills across finance and operational teams
- Practical, solutions-focused approach with high attention to detail
The culture is professional, collaborative and grounded, with a strong focus on trust, autonomy and performance.
Salary up to $180,000 + superannuation is on offer, along with flexible working arrangements.
