Management Accountant 12-Month Contract | Hybrid Working | Sydney Based- Opportunity to join a leading Sydney-based university
- 12-month contract with potential for extension
- Broad role combining management accounting, financial accounting and transactional finance responsibilities

We are currently partnering with a well-established Sydney university recognised for its strong reputation, inclusive culture and commitment to delivering excellence in education and research.
Due to an increase in workload and ongoing projects, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced Management Accountant to join the finance team on a 12-month contract.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the wider finance function through a combination of management accounting, financial accounting and transactional finance activities.
This is a varied role suited to someone who enjoys working across multiple areas of finance and partnering with stakeholders to support decision-making and operational outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting and financial planning activities
- Prepare monthly management reports and variance analysis
- Support month-end and year-end reporting processes
- Prepare journals, reconciliations and balance sheet reviews
- Assist with financial reporting and compliance requirements
- Provide financial insights and analysis to support business decisions
- Support accounts payable and other transactional finance processes when required
- Assist with process improvement initiatives and reporting enhancements
- Work closely with internal stakeholders across faculties and business units
- Contribute to audit preparation and ad hoc finance projects
- Experience in a Management Accountant, Financial Accountant or similar finance role
- Strong budgeting, forecasting and reporting experience
- Exposure to month-end processes and financial accounting activities
- A hands-on approach and willingness to support transactional finance tasks where required
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
- Experience within Higher Education, Government or a large complex organisation will be highly regarded
- CA/CPA qualification or working towards completion
