Payroll & Accounts Officer | Permanent | Brisbane SouthsideCharterhouse is partnering with a well-established organisation based in Brisbane’s southside to recruit a Payroll & Accounts Officer to join their finance team. This is a hands-on, varied role supporting the Financial Controller and playing an important part in ensuring accurate payroll processing and day-to-day accounting support.
This position will suit someone who enjoys working in a collaborative environment, has strong attention to detail, and is confident managing both payroll and general finance responsibilities.
The Payroll & Accounts Officer will be responsible for the accurate and timely end-to-end processing of payroll, as well as providing broad accounting and administrative support to the finance function. Acting as the key contact for payroll queries, you will work closely with internal stakeholders and external providers to ensure all payroll, superannuation, and compliance obligations are met.
Key responsibilities include:
- End-to-end processing, reconciliation, and maintenance of fortnightly and monthly payroll cycles
- Maintaining accurate employee records, including leave, entitlements, and payroll data
- Managing onboarding, changes, and termination processes
- Responding to payroll, superannuation, and leave-related queries
- Processing employee expenses and reimbursements
- Supporting Single Touch Payroll reporting and year-end reconciliations
- Managing superannuation payments and compliance requirements
- Assisting with recruitment cost tracking and reporting
- Supporting general accounting functions, including bank reconciliations, payment runs, and credit card processing
- Providing accounts payable support when required
- Assisting with subcontractor onboarding and broader finance administration tasks
You will also have:
- Relevant accounting or payroll qualifications, or equivalent experience
- Strong understanding of payroll processes, legislation, and compliance requirements
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage across all levels of the business
- Strong Microsoft Office skills and confidence using finance and payroll systems
- High attention to detail and strong organisational ability
- A proactive, team-oriented approach with a willingness to support broader finance operations
