The Procurement Category Specialist (Fleet Assets) is responsible for managing and optimising the procurement processes for the fleet assets category within the organisation. This role focuses on strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, contract negotiation, and cost optimisation to ensure the availability and efficiency of fleet assets. The specialist will collaborate with various stakeholders to align procurement strategies with business goals and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage Strategic Medium to High-Risk Procurement Projects:
o Research, analyse, and review fleet management issues.
o Provide a range of project management services to contribute to the development and delivery of fleet, plant, and equipment.
o Ensure project obligations are met so that work is completed on time and according to budget.
- Strategic Sourcing:
o Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and best practices in fleet procurement.
o Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, considering factors such as quality, cost, reliability, and sustainability.
- Supplier Relationship Management:
Monitor supplier performance and conduct regular reviews to ensure compliance with contractual terms and service level agreements (SLAs).
o Resolve any issues or disputes with suppliers in a timely and effective manner.
- Contract Negotiation and Management:
o Draft, review, and manage contracts, ensuring alignment with organisational policies and legal requirements.
o Monitor contract performance and ensure compliance with agreed terms.
- Cost Optimisation:
o Conduct total cost of ownership (TCO) analyses to evaluate the long-term cost implications of procurement decisions.
o Develop and implement initiatives to improve procurement efficiency and reduce waste.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
o Work closely with internal stakeholders, including operations, finance, and legal teams, to align procurement strategies with business objectives.
o Provide guidance and support to stakeholders on procurement policies, procedures, and best practices.
o Participate in cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement and innovation in fleet procurement.
Qualifications & Experience
- Extensive experience in Fleet or Category Management in a procurement environment.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, with a focus on fleet assets or a similar category.
- Proven track record in strategic sourcing, supplier management, and contract negotiation
