Project Accountant (Grants & Acquittals)Education Sector | Sydney
$450 – $500 + Super per Day
An established education organisation is seeking a Project Accountant to join their finance team, supporting a portfolio of externally funded programs including research grants and projects.
This role plays a key part in ensuring accurate financial management, reporting, and compliance across multiple funding streams within a complex and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- End-to-end accounting for grants and funded projects
- Preparation of grant acquittals and external funding reports
- Monitoring, reconciling, and analysing project/grant expenditure
- Ensuring compliance with funding agreements and internal policies
- Supporting budgeting and forecasting for project funding
- Partnering with stakeholders across finance and operations
- Assisting with month-end and audit requirements
- Identifying process improvements within project/grant reporting
- Background in accounting with exposure to grants, projects, or acquittals
- Strong understanding of financial compliance and reporting frameworks
- Experience in education, government, or not-for-profit environments highly regarded
- Strong analytical and reconciliation skills
- Confident communicator with strong stakeholder engagement ability
- CA/CPA qualified or working towards (desirable)
- Competitive daily rate: $680 – $700 + super
