My client a NSW Government Department is seeking to appoint an experienced and dynamic Senior Cost Manager to focus on budgets and cost to join this prestigious, extremely large by international standards project, the scale and complexity has rarely been undertaken by NSW or other Australian governments.  

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the cost function and the preparation, monitoring and controlling of the project cost plan and overall project budget.  The role provides professional guidance in all aspects of project costs to achieve agreed objectives.

Your main responsibilities will include:
  • Manage the cost cash flow function of the project to cover all phases of the project from construction to operational readiness to commissioning and into revenue service
  • Analyse and improve systems, processes and procedures to improve management, operations and deliverables in relation to the overall project cost plan
  • Ensure the consistent application of cost control methodologies across the project and that project costing complies with relevant national and international quality and standards
  • Provide whole-of project oversight of the project cost plan reviewing project cost control issues
  • Ensure the Cost Plan is aligned with statutory, legislative, construction and design requirements
  • Manage the preparation of estimates for pricing options, scenarios and changes to inform the Delivery Office of cost data to ensure value for money decisions are made and prepare adjustments to the project cost plan as a result of approved deviations from the baseline
  • Managing cost in a dynamic, complex and multi-contract project environment 
Essential requirements:
  • Relevant tertiary and/or post graduate qualifications in engineering, construction, finance quantity surveying, project management, estimating or related fields
  • Extensive proven experience preparing, managing and controlling complex project cost plans and systems for multi-discipline projects, preferably in major infrastructure or transport fields
  • Extensive proven experience in the development and delivery of control of schedules, cost plans and budgets for complex rail and/or transport infrastructure projects
  • Excellent communication skills
