Job description
OverviewWe are looking for an experienced Linux Engineer to join our client on a contract basis, supporting the design, build, and optimisation of Linux-based infrastructure environments.
This role will focus heavily on automation, containerisation, and scripting, with an immediate need for someone who can contribute from day one and deliver high-quality technical outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy, configure, and support Linux environments across enterprise infrastructure
- Administer and maintain distributions such as Red Hat, Fedora, Debian, or Ubuntu
- Develop and enhance automation frameworks using Ansible
- Build and manage containerised workloads using Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift
- Write scripts (primarily in Python) to automate operational processes and reduce manual effort
- Troubleshoot system issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement fixes
- Improve system performance, scalability, and reliability
- Strong hands-on experience with Linux (such as RHEL, Fedora, Debian, Ubuntu)
- Solid experience with Ansible for configuration management and automation (AAP or Core/Tower)
- Practical experience with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift)
- Strong scripting capability in Python (Bash also beneficial)
- Understanding of networking concepts and system performance tuning
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Experience working in DevOps or platform engineering teams
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform)
- Experience in enterprise-scale or highly regulated environments
