Primary Purpose of the Role

Provide timely, high-level support and coordination activities to assist the finance team in delivery of key strategic tasks and projects. Prepare critical communications to collect and document financial assurance from senior managers and other financial information, summarise and prepare action items and co-ordinate progress reports on agreed actions for the review of Manager Financial Assurance. Co-ordinate and prepare reports for the Audit Office and Audit and Risk Committee.

Key Accountabilities
  • Proactively assess any new/emerging financial and control risks, update documentation, including the collation of business/operational responses to these risks.
  • Support the Manager Financial Assurance in continually assessing opportunities to further improve the risk and financial control environment across the business, process improvements, their implementation and compliance.
  • Provide a range of support services, including coordinating papers, and prepare progress reports for actions required by audit recommendations and from assurance documentation to management.
  • Communicate with relevant stakeholders to record and monitor progress regarding the collation of management assurance responses for financial reporting and other financial assurance activities.
  • Provide administrative support to the Finance and Assets team, including preparation of correspondence, briefs, reports, and presentations regarding relevant issues.
  • Undertake research and analysis in assigned project areas and contribute to the preparation of briefs and papers to support informed decision making and planning.
Key Challenges
  • Delivering multiple project and administrative activities given tight deadlines and competing demands and priorities of diverse group of contributors and an ability to assess financial and control environment risks and opportunities in a complex and diverse entity.
  • Exercising diplomacy and judgement when liaising with senior officials and executive managers to meet mandatory timelines.
  • Keeping up to date with changing accounting standards, Treasury policies and guidelines and other mandatory reporting requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Tertiary qualification in Commerce, Business or similar field from a recognised institution and/or relevant industry experience.
  • Strong Microsoft suite skills (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, One-Note)
