Job description
Data Solution Designer6-Month Initial Contract | Multi-Year Program | High Likelihood of Extension
Sydney CBD | Hybrid (2 days in-office per week)
We are seeking an experienced Data Solution Designer to join a major multi-year data transformation program within the banking sector. This role plays a pivotal part in shaping and guiding data solution design — working closely with technical teams, architects, and business stakeholders to ensure scalable, efficient, and well-governed data outcomes.
Rather than being strictly hands-on technical, this position is solution-oriented and consultative, requiring strong communication, design thinking, and leadership across delivery teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end data solution design across multiple streams of a large transformation program
- Translate business needs into scalable, practical data solutions and architectures
- Oversee and guide delivery teams on data integration, modelling, and migration approaches
- Support the transition from legacy data warehouses (e.g., Oracle) to modern platforms
- Partner with stakeholders, architects, and vendors to ensure alignment and solution integrity
- Proven experience as a Data Solution Designer, Data Architect, or senior-level Data Engineer with strong solution design capability
- Solid understanding of ETL concepts and data integration (Informatica or equivalent tools)
- Strong background in large-scale data migration or modernisation programs
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, documentation, and solution governance skills
- Banking or financial services industry experience is essential
- Initial 6-month contract with strong likelihood of extension
- Work on a multi-year enterprise transformation program with significant impact
- Hybrid working arrangement – 2 days per week in the Sydney CBD office
