About the Company
We a seeking a Design Engineer for a 2 -3 month contract for a government organisation based in Burwood. This role is paying $51.60 - $61.90 per hour + super.
About the Role
- Design (both manually and with Computer Assisted Design (CAD) software) the civil infrastructure (including footpaths, kerb and gutter, roads, driveways, stormwater drainage, open space and traffic facilities).
- Prepare quantities and cost estimates for capital works projects, Public Domain works and utility restorations.
- Investigate, analyse, designs and modelling of stormwater drainage system (both manually and using DRAIN or similar software)
- Contribute to overall management of the Infrastructure Assets including roads, kerb and gutter, footpaths, stormwater and associated assets through collecting and managing network-wide asset condition data.
- Analyse and interpret information and utilise the Asset Management Systems to determine prioritisation of works by condition, risk and cost benefit analysis.
- Undertake assessment of assets including asset defects, probable cause of such defects and maintenance and rehabilitation techniques.
- Liaise with and provide assistance and advice to all stakeholders including Council staff, State Government departments and agencies, consultants, user groups etc on a range of project specific matters, the Stormwater Drainage policies and Stormwater Management Plans / Flood Studies.
- Implement procedures and operational management standards to enhance the effective and efficient management of the Infrastructure and Stormwater portfolio and provide support, research and advice on related projects.
- Review Works on the Property Applications with respect for connections the Stormwater Drainage Network.
- Carry out all necessary investigation of Department requests, customer requests, and supply clear, concise, accurate and timely reports in line with specified performance targets;
- Engage and manage external design consultants to prepare design and documentation of various infrastructure projects.
- Supervise and assist in aspects of contract/consultant works as required including, but not restricted to, safety, quality of work, environmental protection, check and recommend payment of invoices;
- General administration including the preparation of briefing memorandums and various correspondence.
- Lead Flood Studies and Flood Risk Management Plans program and the management of consultants and grant funding.
- Coordinate and provide technical support to the flood plain and risk management committees.
Skills & Experience
- Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering.
- Demonstrated contemporary experience in preparation of design documentation relating to road and storm water drainage projects with experience in investigation survey, design and estimation of these projects.
- Demonstrated contemporary experience with total catchment management processes and issues, especially those related to stormwater management.
- Demonstrated experience with the use of Total Station and survey equipment.
- Demonstrated contemporary experience in computer aided design and hydrological/hydraulic modelling packages (CivilCad, AutoCad, DRAINS and Hec Ras)
