  • Working of a leading not for profit based just north of Melbourne CBD
About the company:

This opportunity is with a leading not-for-profit organisation. You will be joining the people and culture team and will be reporting directly to the National HR Manager.

This is 12-month fixed term contract and is due to start at the beginning of August.

This role will take the lead in complex investigations, disciplinary issues and grievances, and provide coaching and support to managers and employees involved in the process. The role will support the case management of multiple and varied cases including disciplinary matters and fitness-for-work processes and monitor, track, and report on case trends.

The role is full-time, Monday – Friday. The organisation offers flexible hybrid working, the team tend to go into the office three times a week. Their head offices are based just north of the city.

 

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Providing high-quality written and verbal advice on industrial and employee relations to key internal and external stakeholders. This includes researching industrial matters like case law and working with stakeholders such as General Counsel and external industrial advisors and legal providers.
  • Assessing and recommending the establishment of Enterprise Bargaining Agreements (EBA) across the organization.
  • Working collaboratively within the People & Culture (P&C) function, supporting change proposals, and handling complex issues with sound advice, coaching, and support.
  • Assisting P&C Business Partners with less complex employee relations matters.
  • Educating and training people managers across the organization on industrial and employment legislation and requirements.
  • Working closely with General Counsel to prepare cases for presentation at courts and tribunals, including the Fair Work Commission.
  • Attending court and tribunal sessions, including the Fair Work Commission, with General Counsel as needed.
You will have the following:

  • Degree qualified with significant and substantial experience in Industrial Relations within a relevant similar industry.
  • A working understanding of the Employment Relations Framework and Industrial Awards, preferrable SCHADS
  • Highly developed relationship building, coaching and influencing skills with the ability and resilience to deal with people on complex and sensitive issues.
  • Strong written communication skills, with experience writing effective reports and communications relating to workforce issues and other technical matters.
