- 3 Month Contract (Opportunity to Extend)
- $55.73 per hour + Super
- 7 Hours per day
- Blacktown Location
Primary Purpose of the Role
- To contribute to effective and efficient floodplain catchment management and drainage design across our City.
- Provide flooding and drainage information and advice to our community and stakeholders.
- Act in accordance with the NSW Work Health Safety Act 2011, Work Health Safety Regulation 2017 and the Work Health and Safety (WHS) System.
- Facilitate background investigations to allow Council’s design team to prepare designs with consideration but not limited to flooding and existing infrastructure
- Lead investigations and prepare GIS maps for updating flood-lines in conjunction with Council’s senior drainage engineers
- Preparation of flood extents and flood level data in electronic and/or hard copy format for use by various Council sections and the community
- Issue flooding and drainage related information to various Council sections and the community in relation to development across the City
- Act as the quality assurance (QA) administrator to ensure all required documentation is completed and filed systematically to satisfy QA auditing requirements.
- Implement, monitor and, or comply with Council’s WHS system, including but not limited to work health and safety policies, standard operating procedures, risk assessments/work instructions and associated system tools in their relevant work area.
- Adequately familiarise yourself with your work health and safety responsibilities and actively fulfil these as indicated in the WHS Responsibilities guideline WHS001.
- Tertiary qualifications in civil engineering, surveying or a related field
- Considerable practical experience in the undertaking of engineering surveys and minor civil engineering designs and investigations for road and/or drainage works.
- Knowledge and/or experience using GIS and computer-aided design software programs such as Civil CAD, 12D and AutoCad.
- Knowledge and/or experience of land surveying, survey m.ark management systems, cadastral mapping and land titles systems.
- Understanding in flooding, catchment management, drainage design and investigations.
- Well-developed communication skills in a workplace context
- Current Class C driver’s licence.
- Knowledge of applicable legislation and regulations.
- Computer literacy in basic Microsoft Office applications and the ability to quickly learn corporate applications.
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
