Job description

  • Local government opportunity for an experienced HR Payroll Officer
  • Operational HR, Payroll Processing & HRIS Support
  • Melbourne Inner City based | Hybrid working |  12 mth contract
 

We are partnering with a progressive local council to recruit a detail oriented HR Payroll Officer. This role plays a critical part in ensuring smooth, accurate and responsive HR and payroll services, supporting employees and leaders across the organisation. This role is well suited to someone who enjoys working across both HR and payroll functions, thrives in a collaborative environment and takes pride in delivering high quality service. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Provide clear, timely advice on routine HR and payroll matters, escalating complex issues as required
  • Work closely with payroll specialists, HR business partners and operational leaders, you will provide support across HR administration, systems maintenance, and payroll processing
  • Contribute continuous improvement initiatives across people systems and processes.
  • Support payroll processing to ensure all staff are paid accurately and on time
  • Ensure compliance with agreements, policies, and relevant legislation
 

Skills & Experience

  • Experience in HR administration, payroll, or HRIS support
  • Understanding of payroll compliance and HR processes in line with legislation
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Relevant qualification in Human Resources, Business Administration orrelated field (desirable)
  • Local government experience is highly desirable
  • Chris21 experience is a must
