Job description

We are partnering with a local council to recruit a proactive HSE Advisor. This is a critical, high impact role, placing you at the heart of the organisation’s safety and wellbeing strategy. You will be part of a positive OHS culture, driving initiatives that protect and empower employees while ensuring compliance and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities
- Support the organisation in developing and implementing safety and wellbeing programs that promote an effective OHS culture and a proactive approach to the identification, management, and prevention of risks.
- Facilitate OHS sessions for Business Units to assist them in identifying OHS risks and effective controls for minimising risk to Council employees, and to increase staff’s awareness of OHS and health & wellbeing issues.
- Act as a change agent, build awareness, and engagement around safety and wellbeing to establish a sustainable, ingrained positive safety and wellbeing culture.
- Provide advice to the business, including supporting and providing strategic early intervention injury management, and wellbeing services.
- Maintain OHS databases, prepare and analyse reports, identify strategies and present findings as required to area managers, staff, and OHS committees.
Skills & Experience
- Degree qualifications and significant experience in safety and wellbeing or related field.
- Proven safety & wellbeing experience gained in a similar role within a complex operating environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to present and hold training/workshops to influence a broad range of internal stakeholders
- Experience in the delivery of technical safety advice to individuals at all levels, to minimise risk across a diverse workforce
- Knowledge and experience in the application of practices and procedures for an effective and efficient OHS Management system.
- Cert IV in Occupational Health and Safety.
