About the Company
 
We are looking for a Principal Planner to join the team in a council in South Sydney. This is a permanent position paying $111,000 - $128,863 + super based on a 35 hour week. This role offers flexible work arrangements and lots of benefits. 
 

About the Role

  •  To ensure Council priorities are met and processes/procedures continually reviewed to achieve continually improved high standards of customer service is provided to all stakeholders.
  • In conjunction with the team Coordinator, identify, develop and propose business process and procedural improvements to achieve statutory compliance with all relevant laws and to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Directorate.
  • In conjunction with the team coordinator, support and guide team members within the area of speciality to assist with the team’s ability to ensure work and performance is clear, concise, accurate and efficient.
  • Assist in improvement to assessment systems and processes.
  • Develop, motivate and lead a collaborative, high performance work culture.
  • Undertake activities associated with Court Appeals and the assessment of Major Development Applications, Modifications to Consent and Reviews within the Development and Building Section of Council.
  • Act as expert witness or instructing officer on behalf of Council in court proceedings as required.
  • Attend and provide feedback on planning matters to planning panels as required.
  • To undertake project work related to Development Assessment as required.

Skills & Experience
 
  • Previous Planning experience in a principal, team leader or senior role
  • DA planning experience in NSW
  • Good problem solving skills and outcome driven
  • Local government experience preferable
