Primary Purpose of the Role

Deliver specialised technical assistance, ensuring that guidance and technical solutions align with current standards, to a range of internal and external interfaces. This aims to optimise the efficiency, safety and reliability of relevant systems, processes and asset classes across the organisations electrical power outage system throughout the asset lifecycle.

 
Key Accountabilities
  • Provide guidance on engineering & electrical construction standards, technical specifications, policies, procedures and work instructions to achieve efficient compliance and the production of safe and fit for purpose outcomes for the Program.
  • Provide authoritative expert engineering advice including in the preparation and evaluation of technical reports, feasibility studies to assist the Program in the delivery of safe, quality, timely and cost-effective solutions.
  • Undertake project review of designs, proposals, procedures, and other documentation across a range of elements including maintainability, constructability and standards compliance whilst contributing to the delivery of complex multi discipline projects and providing best practice technical engineering advice and services to the Program and its contractors.
  • Contribute to the preparation of electrical construction and engineering documentation and plans including Advice of Alterations to Electrical Operating Diagrams, construction, commissioning and test plans, and technical resource requests.
  • Supervise external consultants as required and provide assistance and/or coaching to team members by advising on technical and safety issues in the electrical discipline, to facilitate the achievement of electrical project objectives, development of employees, and risk management.
  • Liaise with members of the project team and advise on project specifications and technical requirements for the relevant electrical sub-discipline, to establish a shared understanding of design and construction scope, budget, time constraints, success indicators, quality, environmental and safety standards.
  • Be a contributing member of a project team that promotes accountability for working in an environment that includes multi-skilling, self-management, team support and contributing (or identifying) opportunities for continuous improvement, ensuring a high level of internal customer satisfaction.
  • Execute safety responsibilities, authorities and accountabilities consistent with the organisations safety management system requirements which are defined in SMS document number SMS-02-RG-3058.

  • Staying updated on technological advancements, industry standards, and regulatory updates.
  • Managing multiple work priorities effectively while ensuring consensus and cooperation among all involved parties.
  • Offering extensive guidance to a program focused on transforming entrenched safety procedures, implementing new business technologies, and pioneering infrastructure solutions, all within crucial Program deadlines.
Essential Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience in the design, development, type approval, construction, commissioning, and maintenance of safety & operational critical electrical infrastructure in rail systems
  • Demonstrated detailed understanding, and experience in the application, of the systems and processes within the Electrical Network Safety Rules and related policies, legislation, and internal and external standards.
