About the Role
A well-established national B2B industrial organisation is seeking a commercially astute Senior Commercial Manager, National to design, lead and embed a best-in-class commercial function across the business.
Operating within a complex industrial distribution environment servicing trade, infrastructure, manufacturing and industrial end users, this role carries national accountability for Category Management, Strategic Sourcing, Supply Chain optimisation and Pricing initiatives.
This is not a maintenance role, it is a build-and-evolve mandate. You will establish the frameworks, governance, and commercial disciplines that underpin sustainable margin growth, competitive positioning, and long-term supplier partnerships.
As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will act as the commercial architect of the business, aligning category strategy, pricing structures and supply chain performance to drive profitable growth and stronger customer value propositions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement the national commercial strategy across Category, Purchasing, Supply Chain and Pricing
- Establish structured category management frameworks aligned to industrial end-user demand and market dynamics
- Develop and embed a disciplined pricing architecture (margin governance, rebate strategy, contract pricing, price realisation controls)
- Lead strategic supplier negotiations, trading terms, and long-term partnership agreements
- Optimise supply chain performance to support service levels, working capital efficiency and network agility
- Deliver data-led margin improvement initiatives across product portfolios
- Partner with Sales leadership to align pricing strategy with customer segmentation and contract strategy
- Build commercial capability, governance, reporting and performance metrics across the national business
- Drive cross-functional planning processes that link forecasting, procurement, and commercial decision-making
- Manage an overall team of approx 15 people.
About You
You are a commercially driven senior leader with deep experience in B2B industrial, manufacturing, technical distribution or trade environments.
You bring a strategic mindset and the ability to design and embed commercial structure, not simply operate within one.
You will demonstrate:
- Proven success leading national Category and Pricing functions within industrial or distribution-based businesses
- Experience building or transforming commercial frameworks in complex, multi-site environments
- Strong understanding of industrial end-user markets and customer segmentation
- Expertise in pricing strategy, margin management, and supplier commercial negotiations
- Ability to influence at executive level and lead cross-functional change
- High commercial and financial acumen, supported by strong analytical capability
