Key Accountabilities
  • Lead and coordinate the preparation of environmental reporting relating to climate change impacts, greenhouse gas emissions, carbon neutral policies and NSW Net Zero in accordance with project plans and deadlines.
  • The role coordinates content from other specialist sources. It does not require additional research or advanced technical analysis or writing, but an understanding of greenhouse gas emissions, climate change impacts, and the NSW Net Zero Plan will be an advantage.
  • Establish and maintain productive relationships with key internal and external contacts to improve data compilation, information gathering, and responsiveness to requests for drafts or reviews of report content for policy development or environmental reporting.
  • Coordinate content to meet statutory and reporting requirements for the Departments Annual Report, climate risk reporting and State of the Environment Report.
  • Draft complex correspondence, briefings, and reports for the Unit Manager, Executive Director, Executive, the Board and Minister, ensuring they are in final form for approval and address issues related to environmental assessment and reporting.
  • Identify emerging issues affecting the state of the environment or annual report, recommend solutions considering legal, economic, and social factors, and account for diverse viewpoints.
Key Challenges
  • Manages projects and allocates resources independently within set parameters, handling a variety of complex policy and project tasks, often under tight deadlines and in a dynamic environment with frequently shifting priorities.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
  • Demonstrated strong understanding of current environmental issues and challenges, as well as the principles and practices of natural resource management, environmental protection and sustainability.
  • Extensive experience in developing and utilising environmental indicators and information frameworks to evaluate environmental performance and report on outcomes and trends.
