About the Company

Exciting position for a Nurse or medical professional who wants to work in an office environment to work as a Senior Health Advisor for NSW government organisation. This is a 3 month contract paying $70 per hour+ super and is based in Olympic Park. This department helps the general public and gives back in critical times.


About the Role
  • Coordinate and manage the pre-employment medical screening, medical assessment, vaccination and health management programs in a cost effective and timely manner to deliver organisational outcomes, and develop collaborative working relationships with members, health professionals and NSW RFS personnel.
  • Provide guidance, advice and case management of non-work related illness/injury cases, including analysing health/medical information, and best practice industry standards to make critical decisions in relation to capacity for members to perform their role, and the development of health management plans (return to work, recovery and reasonable workplace adjustments).
  • Triage, assess and review medical assessments and liaise with membership, business units, internal subject matter experts and external medical professionals to make decisions regarding members ability to fulfil inherent physical and psychological requirements for various roles.
  • Monitor and identify emerging health issues and trends and assist in the development of strategies and processes to minimise or eliminate health risks, including delivery of health promotion initiatives and training across the organisation to improve health outcomes.
  • In conjunction with Supervisor, Health Management, contribute to the development, implementation, review and improvement of the NSW RFS Health Management policies, procedures, and systems, including supporting the design and development of training content into learning and development frameworks.
  • Collate and prepare timely non-workers compensation and health management documentation, and data for reporting (e.g. to the executive, committees, other business units) to inform effective decision-making.
  • Keep informed of current trends and developments within the scope of health management and proactively identify key gaps and trends in occupational health and contribute to continuous improvement and the integration of data and trends into strategic health and wellbeing programs, and learning and development frameworks.
  • Manage and maintain a health and welfare records system.

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience as a nurse or medical worker
  • Degree in occupational health or similar
  • Experience establishing and implementing health management and health monitoring programs
