About the company
Reporting to the Team Leader, Planning & Property, you will be working with the second largest governing body for schools globally within the Infrastructure team as a Planning Officer. This is an exciting full time temporary opportunity with view to longer term work and potentially other opportunities within this business.
Responsibilities
- Preparation of demographic data and enrollment projections for use in the general planning of provision and for use by Catholic schools in Victoria.
- Planning approvals: Work with local councils and other Responsible Authorities to obtain planning approvals for new Catholic schools and infrastructure projects for existing schools to meet demand from population growth
- Provide advice to schools on the suitability of potential new school sites.
- Provide advice to school and parish authorities with regard to new school sites, capital development and master planning of those sites, and assist in the preparation of demographic data for educational briefs.
- Secondary School Planning: assist in the delivery of secondary school provision planning.
- Provision of general planning advice.
- Ad-hoc duties as directed by the Executive Director
About you
- Ideally tertiary qualifications in Geography, Urban Planning, Mapping or Geospatial Science.
- Broad experience in undertaking demographic studies for public facilities and infrastructure.
- Experience in the use of GIS systems including interfaces with databases.
- Ideally experience in the use of software such as QGIS or Map lnfo Professional, Excel and Word
- Report writing skills
- Experience in school provision planning
- Experience in statutory and strategic planning
- A current Victorian driver's license.
