Job description

Role:

  • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of IT projects - particularly around Cyber in Local Government. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills to ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget. This role will collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to achieve project goals and drive continuous improvement.
  • Deliver these projects by building cross functional, high-performing delivery teams through partnering with internal practices and capabilities eg: Business Analysis, Testing, Application Support, Security, Architecture, Change Management as well as bringing in external specialists where appropriate.
 

Key Responsibilities:

Delivery

  • Lead project delivery from initiation to closure on time, on budget, to scope and to quality parameters specified.
  • Ensure projects remain compliant with organisational ePMO project management methodology, governance, policies and standards.
  • Strong focus on defining clear deliverables that meet requirements in a practical, efficient and appropriate way. 
  • Ensure that adequate resource planning is conducted in partnership with practices and operational teams to ensure project delivery is balanced against BAU operations.
  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives to drive transparency, communication, and accountability within the team.
  • Manage and prioritize a backlog, balancing BAU and project work, ensuring that tasks are well-defined, estimated, and prioritized based on business value.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve dependencies, bottlenecks, and resource constraints that may impact project delivery.
  • Prepare project status reports, including risks, and issues to stakeholders, ensuring they are informed and aligned with project goals.
  • Manage risk analysis with appropriate mitigation and contingency plans and issue capture, assessment and management with appropriate resolutions.
  • Work in collaboration with change management specialists to develop and deliver change strategies to support the successful implementation of projects / enhancements
 

Stakeholder Engagement/ Collaboration

  • Track project progress against milestones, prepare status reports, and conduct project reviews. Work with project sponsors to demonstrate progress, mitigate risks and resolve issues.
  • Provide strategic advice to senior business stakeholders to support decision making and change management.
  • Ensure stakeholder engagement and communications management, including comprehensive status reporting / showcasing to various stakeholders.
  • Coach, advise and guide key stakeholders to enable them to drive improvements to our internal systems and processes which then translate to better services being delivered to our community.
