About the Company

A NSW government department is looking for an Safety Advisor to work in their team in Olympic Park. This is paying $70 per hour + super and this is a 6 month contract. This role has flexible work environment with 2 days WFH / 3 days in the office. This role will involve occasional travel to different offices in NSW.


About the Role
  • Perform a range of standard Health & Safety unit business functions and project management activities to contribute to the effective and efficient management of WHS and injuries across the Service.
  • Contribute to the identification, development and implementation of WHS and injury management systems that comply with applicable legislation and record keeping requirements (in accordance with the Privacy & Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), Health Records and Information Privacy Act (HRIP), and associated legislation).
  • Coordinate, conduct and accurately report on health and safety incident investigations and monitor investigation improvement opportunities, such that reliable information about the causes of incidents and the effectiveness of corrective actions is gained.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of WHS risk registers, conduct risk assessments and develop, review and monitor risk controls to contribute to the effective management of risk across the organisation.
  • Support injury management of injured members to ensure their optimal recovery and durable Return to Work, so that the Service fulfils its responsibilities to injured workers as required by legislation and utilising best practice principles.
  • Undertake a planned program of WHS audits and inspections, including WHS systems, WHS incidents and investigations, to provide recommendations on how improved outcomes may be achieved.
  • Provide WHS advice and technical support to WHS related committees and other consultative groups / forums to ensure that appropriate consultative arrangements are in place.
  • Prepare correspondence, reports, and submissions on WHS statistical data and WHS management issues to assist the functions of the executive

Skills & Experience
  • A Diploma in a relevant discipline (e.g. Safety) or equivalent expertise.
  • A current Driver Licence and the willingness and ability to travel.
  • A comprehensive understanding and application of WHS Act and associated regulations, Codes of Practice and industry standards
