Cyber & Data Security Specialist

Job description

• Victorian Protective Data Security Standards (VPDSS) 
• A leading Local Council in Melbourne’s Western Suburbs 
• 6-month contract with likely extension. 
• Up to $750/day 

This Local Government organisation is undertaking a number of initiatives under their Digital Transformation program, and is now looking to uplift its Cyber and Data Security capabilities.   

We are searching for an experienced Security Specialist who is well versed in Victorian Protective Data Security Standards (VPDSS).  In this role you will play a central part in uplifting the organisation’s Cyber & Data Security capabilities, working as part of a dynamic and mature team.   

About the role: 

• Play a key role in the Cyber Security program.  

• Identify gaps in current operations and requirements of the VPDSS.   

• Develop a roadmap of activities and initiatives to close gaps and ensure compliance with VPDSS. 

• Work closely with IT & Transformation leaders and the broader IT Team on additional security initiatives. 

• Uplift organisational security capabilities by providing technical direction for all security-related activities in existing operations across the organisation. 

• Identify and mitigate cyber & data security risks to the organisation.   
   

Required Skills & Experience: 

• In-depth understanding of Victorian Government regulations and guidelines relating to information and cyber security – especially VPDSS. 

• You have a proven track record working on security programs, particularly in programs that meet cyber security objectives.   

• You have technical experience in solution design for security projects.   

• You have fantastic stakeholder engagement capabilities and communications skills to manage stakeholder expectations across the organisation.   

• Any industry certifications will be favourable – e.g. CISSP, CISM, etc.  

• Valid police check is required.
