The company and role

This is a full-time position based in the Sydney Western Suburbs. Working within a Health Public Organization that's part of the South Western Sydney Local Health District.

The Project Accountant reports to the Finance Manager and provides valuable support to the project delivery team by assisting with cost control and monitoring, financial analysis and reporting, and forecasting, along with other finance and commercial duties as required.

The successful execution of this role will ensure superior financial project performance and delivery through accurate and timely financial reporting, proactive analysis and support.

Key tasks include (but are not limited to):

Coordinate the daily tracking of project performance data
This will require you to monitor and audit multiple projects in Oracle and the project management system
Assisting Project Managers in the financial aspects of Project Management - assist in training where needed
Monthly financial reporting & ledger close out
Monthly cost forecasting
Reconciliation of journals
Check project workbooks submitted by engineers
Monthly review of project costs
Identify opportunities to improve processes
Investigating accounting and financial irregularities (if any identified)
Analysing financial information and preparing financial transaction reports
Completing tasks & reporting within set financial deadlines
Prepare reconciliation and monthly financial analysis reports

About You

A track record of partnering with senior management of a business unit to achieve organisational objectives
An excellent understanding of and experience with project accounting practices and related business systems
Experience in the Health industry or within government
Advanced excel skills (vlookups, pivot tables, macros)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and concisely.
