Paralegal/Legal Support Officer (Level 3) - Contract- $45.20 per hour + super
- Immediate start, initial contract through to 20/12/24 with likely extension
- Sydney CBD Location - Full time on site
- Full time, Monday to Friday
- Open to WHV candidates with suitable legal experience
- PLT sign off is not applicable within this contract role, there is the potential for this with other opportunities within the organisation in the future
This large organisation within the Government sector are seeking an experienced Paralegal/Legal Support Officer for a temporary contract with the possibility for extension. Great company culture in a friendly and supportive team.
This is a senior administrative role which involves the delivery of high quality clerical and paralegal support for an effective and efficient prosecution service. The successful candidate will need to be able to prioritise workloads effectively. This is a contract role, you will need to be highly organised, a self-starter and have the confidence to work independently and have prior experience in a similar position. There is also the potential to apply for ongoing positions in the future.
Previous experience in a similar position is highly regarded.
Duties within the role will include but not limited to:
- Provide high quality legal support to staff, prosecutors and other Counsel
- Maintain briefs, files, file notes and records of proceedings; organise witnesses, exhibits, meetings, diaries and conferences
- Liaise with external stakeholders including police, legal practitioners, witnesses and court registry staff to obtain and provide all necessary information and assistance
- Prepare court documents for prosecutions and appeals efficiently and accurately to ensure that all relevant information and documents are available
- Provide general legal support including registration and updating matters, drafting correspondence, photocopying, records and supply management
- Record keeping and maintaining databases
- Other admin ad-hoc tasks as required
- Effective interpersonal, communication skills and organisational skills
- Significant experience in the delivery of clerical support services in a legal service environment including preparation of case files and briefs
- Proficiency in the use of software packages such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook and capability to learn new systems quickly
- High level of attention to detail
- High level of confidentiality and professionalism
- Legal or Government experience is preferred but not essential
- Open to law students with previous administration experience (must be available for full time hours, Monday to Friday
- Open to working holiday visa candidates with suitable experience
