This leading energy company based in the heart of the Melbourne CBD currently has an opening for an experienced Business Analyst to work on a varied program of work. 

Located in the Finance Transformation team and with a project team, the successful candidate will work very closely with the Process Efficiency Lead and Senior Financial Controller to evaluate and classify the current business domain and document a set of requirements to define the future business processes. The Business Analyst will also be required to support Business as Usual activities, especially as these relate to the transition of new business processes into the existing framework. 


Key Skills / Responsibilities 

  • Assist the Process Efficiency Lead with the coordination of strategic activities. 

  • Work as part of a team to redesign finance processes, streamlining and reducing complexity by establishing a continuous process improvement framework. 

  • Create business process models using the Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN, EPC, BPEL) specification to allow a clearer understanding of procedures. 

  • Write Epics and Stories across different business domains and systems as part of the Agile team. 

  • Facilitate discussions with SMEs to elicit stakeholder requirements. 

  • Active listening and interview skills to fully understand stakeholder roles and responsibilities. 

  • Contribute positively and proactively to the project, and willing to cross functional boundaries and roles to get things done in a flat organisational structure. 

  • Delivering a programme of change; empowering people and ensuring they are technology-ready.   

  • Document and report on progress of assigned tasks and identify risks and issues as they arise.    

  • Work with stakeholders to understand and analyse solutions to business problems.   


  • Over 5 years demonstrated project team experience delivering complex solutions in an agile environment. 

  • Relevant Business Analyst certifications/qualifications, Agile PM, or Lean Six Sigma certifications are desirable.   

  • Experience working professionally with BABOK project principles.   

  • Experience working in Agile environments using SCRUM.   

  • Detailed knowledge of process mapping and business process engineering, using tools such as Visio and ProMapp.   

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the planning, identification, documentation, review and analysis of business processes and business requirements on a qualitative and quantitative level.   

  • Results-orientated individual to implement operational improvements, particularly involving User Acceptance testing.  

  • Fantastic soft-skills to be able to leverage relationships with stakeholders and effectively analyse existing business processes in order to map future workflows.   

  • Strong communicator, both oral and written, to communicate work stakeholders at all levels of the business.
