About the Company

This opensource-as-a-technology company delivering reliability at scale. They manage cutting edge open-source technologies for their customers around the world. Founded in 2013, they have seen a huge growth throughout their offices worldwide and they continue to do this. You will be a Senior Java Developer working as a member of their Engineering team under the leadership of their team. The leadership team will want evidence that you have overcome challenges throughout your career as well as your key achievements on projects. You will play an important role mentoring and developing junior staff, while having a lot of development tasks that involve several individuals in the team.

About the Role: 

  • Working as a member of an agile team following the Scrum methodology developing a new product in a rapidly developing market
  • Leading the development of large-scale projects and major features of their products
  • Coaching and development of junior software engineers
  • Undertaking design, coding, unit testing, debugging and troubleshooting in Java, Python, AngularJS, PostgreSQL and other tools
  • Following, and helping drive improvement in, standard QA and other development processes
  • Meeting standard team member performance expectations

Skills/Qualifications

  • Coding languages and techniques including Java, SQL (preferably PostgreSQL), AngularJS and Python
  • Software engineering methodology
  • Tertiary qualifications in software engineering (or related discipline) 

Experience Needed: 

  • As a Senior Software Engineer, you will have between 5+years of experience with solid Java skills, but a background in multiple languages often correlates well with success in our environment where they use a lot of languages in niches (e.g., Python, JavaScript, Clojure, Bash, Scala, C). We have a lot of people who have C++ & C# in their background
  • Some experience with DevOps principles and technology (e.g., Jenkins, Terraform, Docker)
  • Some experience with and/or Cloud environments and concepts (AWS, Google or Azure)
  • Any experience with Elasticsearch, Cassandra, Redis or Kafka is a bonus
