Job description

We are seeking a Data Analyst to support the development of a Data Strategy and Data Governance Framework within a large, purpose-driven organisation.
Working closely with the Senior Data Analyst, you will contribute to shaping how data is managed, governed, and used to support strategic and operational outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development of the Data Strategy through research, analysis, documentation, and data mapping
- Contribute to the development of data governance frameworks, including policies, standards, and processes
- Document data definitions, metadata, and data lineage to support improved data management
- Assist in establishing data ownership, stewardship, and governance roles across the organisation
- Ensure alignment with NSW Government data and digital frameworks and compliance requirements
- Collaborate with business units, IT teams, and stakeholders to gather and document data requirements
- Support system and data landscape mapping, identifying gaps, duplication, and improvement opportunities
- Prepare reports, briefings, and communication materials for stakeholders
- Experience in a Data Analyst or Data Governance role
- Strong understanding of data governance concepts (metadata, lineage, data quality, stewardship)
- Excellent analytical and documentation skills
- Ability to work across business and technical stakeholders
- Experience working within government or regulated environments (desirable)
- Exposure to Indigenous Data Sovereignty principles (desirable)
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
