Job description
Application Developer (JAVA) needed for an initial 6-month contract in Redfern for a large-scale data integration project for a Government Agency. The role will be to provide ongoing BAU support for the project’s integration systems deployed in a complex enterprise environment to ensure that they are operational and satisfy the needs for our Client.
Duties
- Perform proactive activities such as health checks and performance monitoring that predict and identify issues, and resolve these issues in a timely manner, meeting service level agreements and minimising disruptions
- Perform deployment, configuration, data refresh and infrastructure upgrades for the solution
- Assist with testing of versions and patches of the solution above
- Apply relevant departmental policies, standards and processes to incident management, problem management, change management and security
- Perform in depth investigations for problem resolution and root cause analysis across complex and highly integrated landscape, spanning multiple technologies.
- Identify improvement opportunities for the solution above and its business processes
Essential knowledge and/or experience
- Extensive experience in BAU operational support
- 5 years' development experience in Java Standard Edition (Java SE)
- 5 years' development experience in Java Enterprise Edition (Java EE) including JMS, JPA, EJB, JDBC, JSF and JBoss EAP
- SOA development experience in SOAP-based and RESTful Web services
- Demonstrated data experience in Oracle RDBMS 12c and/or Microsoft SQL Server
- Demonstrated knowledge of XML stylesheets (XSL), XML schemas (XSD), relational database schemas (SQL) and object oriented models (UML)
- Experience in configuration management tools such as Apache Maven, Git, Bamboo, Confluence and JIRA
- Experience in writing quality and detailed documentation such as operational guides
- Experience with Unix administration (e.g. Red Hat Enterprise Linux) and shell scripting (e.g. Bash)
Preferred knowledge and/or experience
- Oracle Java SE and Java EE certifications
- ITIL processes
- Kafka, Openshift technologies experience
- Big data tools such as Apache Hadoop, HBase, Hive, Sqoop, Oozie and Spark
- Monitoring tools such as New Relic and Nagios
