Job description

​​​​​​Key Accountabilities: - 

  • Preparation of annual tax effect accounting calculations in compliance with US GAAP including calculation of the quarterly Effective Tax Rate (ETR) for the Australian tax consolidated group
  • Managing the SOX compliance process (for tax) for Australia including maintaining relevant documentation
  • Providing input to the external tax advisors in respect of the preparation of the annual income tax return, Australian transfer pricing documentation, Country by Country reporting etc. including detailed review of their output
  • Liaising with external tax advisors and the Group Tax team (based in the US)
  • Reviewing the work of the Tax Accountant including review of monthly Business Activity Statements, tax account reconciliations and the annual Fringe Benefits Tax returns
  • Working with Finance team members to support through various tax aspects including supporting more junior staff in relation to tax matters
  • Provide support to Senior Taxation Manager - Oceania with ad-hoc tax advisory matters

 
 
Requirements of the successful candidate: -

  • Progressive experience with a large accounting firm and /or large corporates with proven track record of success
  • Excellent knowledge of Australian tax legislation
  • High proficiency in tax effect accounting is a must
  • Experience in Australian tax compliance for large multinationals
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a diverse group of team members with different skills and abilities
  • Knowledge of US GAAP - in particular FIN 48 and SOX compliance is highly desired
  • CA/CPA qualified
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Strong analytical, written and inter-personal communications skills
  • Be a highly motivated “self-starter” and able to meet deadlines


 
The ideal candidate will be CA/CPA qualified and have several years of experience in a similar role – either in-house or in public practise. You will have strong tax effect accounting skills together with a strong knowledge of tax legislation enabling you to manage the tax compliance in a complex corporate structure as well as a friendly, team focused approach with a willingness to take advantage of professional development opportunities.
