About the role:

Our client, a well-established and growing accounting firm based in Surry Hills, is looking for a proactive Admin Assistant to join their team. You’ll play a key role in keeping the office running efficiently, supporting both the accounting team and clients. This is a hands-on position where no two days are the same, you’ll have the opportunity to develop your skills across compliance, client communications, and finance systems.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Day-to-day administrative support for the accounting team
  • Managing ASIC and ATO-related tasks, including company registrations, compliance correspondence, liaising with the ATO on behalf of clients.
  • Managing client and internal communications via email and phone
  • Using Xero and XPM for daily bookkeeping, reporting, and file management
  • Maintaining accurate records, client files, and office documentation
  • Supporting processes to ensure deadlines are met
  • Being a proactive, go-getter who can jump in wherever needed
What we’re looking for:
  • 1–2 years’ experience in administration, ideally within accounting, finance, or professional services, with exposure to client-facing tasks and office operations.
  • Practical experience with Xero and XPM, including daily bookkeeping, reporting, data entry, and supporting financial processes.
  • Energetic, approachable, and a team player, with a positive attitude and the ability to thrive in a collaborative, friendly office environment.
  • Self-motivated with a can-do attitude, able to take initiative, manage multiple tasks, and hit the ground running without constant supervision.
  • Organised and adaptable, able to prioritise competing tasks while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
