Financial Accountant – NSW GovernmentLocation: Parramatta (Hybrid)
Duration: 6 months
Rate: $55–$60 per hour + super
Hours: 35 hours per week
Our NSW Government client is seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join their team on a 6-month contract. This role suits a detail-oriented finance professional with strong experience in end-to-end financial control, reporting, and analysis. You’ll join a high-performing finance team and play a key role in maintaining the integrity and accuracy of financial operations. The position offers a balanced hybrid work model and the opportunity to contribute to critical financial control and reporting processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage financial control activities for month-end and year-end close, including journals, intercompany transactions, and reconciliations.
- Act as the subject matter expert for the department’s expense/revenue portfolio, providing detailed analysis, insights, and reports.
- Maintain integrity across accounts payable, payment receipts, accruals, and creditor balances.
- Liaise with Shared Service Teams to ensure accuracy in payment processing, purchase orders, and asset registers.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, project finance, and business partnering activities.
- Assist with year-end reporting and audit requirements.
- Oversee revenue transactions to ensure compliance and provide financial support as needed.
About You:
- CA/CPA Qualified
- Strong financial accounting background, ideally within a large or government organisation
- SAP experience (desirable) and strong excel skills
- Hands-on experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate across teams.
- Proactive and demonstrates strong initiative
