HR Manager

Education body based in the northeast suburbs | $130 - $150,000 + super | Reporting into the Principal

  • Generalist HR support to the wider organization
  • Reporting directly into the Principal | Be the sole HR presence for the organization
  • Full-time on site | supportive and collaborative organization

About the company

Our client, an education body-based northeast of Melbourne’s CBD, is looking for a HR Manager to join their organization on a full-time, permanent basis.

The role of the Human Resources Manager is to provide strategic and operational service and advice, management, and leadership, in the various human resource functions. The Human Resources Manager also plays a pivotal role in developing a culture that continues to foster a learning, development, and motivational environment.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Take responsibility for the overall Human Resources Program
  • Develop and maintain all HR policies and procedures, in accordance with relevant legislation and Awards.
  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure the organization is an employer of choice
  • Coordinate the process for the recruitment, selection and induction of all staff and contractors; including role descriptions, advertisements, managing candidates, developing interview questions, leading interview panels, generating contracts
  • Prepare employment contracts, adhering to the current guidelines
  • In conjunction with the Principal and Executive Team, ensure that a framework for induction exists for both teaching and educational support staff
  • Attend Leadership Team, Consultative Committee, Risk Committee and Board meetings as requested by the Principal and Leadership Team
  • Other adhoc project work as required

You will have the following:

  • Tertiary qualifications or a related discipline or equivalent experience in human resource management
  • Experience working in a similar role, ideally within an education environment or a similar compliance driven environment
  • Experience developing HR policies and procedures
  • Very strong interpersonal skills to communicate and maintain relationships with stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Use initiative to deal with issues in a decisive, sensitive and consistent manner and a commitment to maintain utmost confidentiality and meet privacy requirements
