Payroll Compliance Specialist |10-Month Fixed Term Contract | North Sydney/WFH | Up to $134k PackageA leading organisation is seeking an experienced Payroll Compliance Specialist to support a large-scale systems transformation project. This role will suit someone with deep payroll legislation knowledge, strong award/EBA interpretation skills, and experience working in complex or high-volume payroll environments.
You’ll be the compliance expert within the project team, reviewing current practices, identifying risks, and helping transition payroll operations into a new enterprise platform.
About the Role
- Act as the payroll compliance SME for a national transformation project
- Review existing payroll practices and recommend compliance improvements
- Support the transition to a new cloud-based payroll system
- Assess the accuracy of Modern Award and EBA interpretation, including time, casual loadings, overtime, and shift-work
- Design and document manual award interpretation processes
- Review pay code configuration and ensure full STP2 reporting compliance
- Implement internal checking processes for ATO lodgements
- Work closely with payroll, risk, and project stakeholders throughout the transition
- 3–5+ years in payroll compliance, payroll operations, or a similar function
- Strong Award and EBA interpretation experience
- Background working with timesheet-driven or high-volume casual workforces
- Experience with cloud payroll systems
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical capability
- Confident communicating complex compliance concepts to stakeholders
- Able to perform in fast-paced and evolving project environments
