Job description
- Sydney Olympic Park / WFH
- Initial 12-month contract
- Pays up to $83.30 p/h + super (7hr a day)
NSW Government Agency is looking for a Principal Legal Officer with a current practicing certificate to join their team.
You will provide legal advice, guidance and solutions to several key stakeholders on often politically and commercially sensitive operational, strategic, financial and reputational issues.
Responsibilities:
- Provide expert, timely, clear, comprehensive and solution focused legal services to internal stakeholders to mitigate legal risk
- Ensure systematic and strategic legal program and project risk is identified and raised
- Represent the Commissioner and Executive Directors in discussions with other key stakeholders in matters requiring legal representation.
- Commission external expert legal advice as required, ensuring all necessary approvals and manage relationships with external legal services providers.
- Interpret and distil complex legal issues for the agency and prepare advice, submissions, briefing notes and other legal documentation to provide guidance on legal implications of decisions and actions.
- Create a framework of engagement for external legal services that is scalable, commercially astute, has defined and measurable performance deliverables
Essentials:
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant legal field
- Admission as a legal practitioner of the Supreme Court of NSW and a current practicing certificate
- Extensive knowledge and experience in providing legal advice in a complex multifaceted agency or business
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
