Associate Director – Business Services & Advisory
Location: North Sydney
Salary: $155,000-185,000 +Super + Bonus 

About the Role Our client, a highly regarded firm in North Sydney is seeking a 2IC, a Senior Manager or Associate Director to join their collaborative leadership team in North Sydney.

This is an opportunity for an experienced Senior Manager ready to step into an Associate Director role, or an established Associate Director seeking a fresh challenge. You will oversee a $1.6m portfolio, manage a team of six, and play a key role in driving client success and firm growth.

You’ll act as a trusted advisor to clients, deliver a balance of compliance and advisory, and collaborate with Directors on strategy and business development. There's a clear progression pathway, with equity opportunities available in the future for the right person.

Duties
  • Manage a $1.6m portfolio across compliance and advisory services

  • Lead, mentor, and coach a team of six accountants, developing future leaders

  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, providing strategic guidance, forecasting, tax planning, and business advisory

  • Drive workflow management and ensure deadlines, budgets, and ATO lodgement requirements are achieved

  • Review and resolve complex tax and accounting matters, providing technical expertise and guidance

  • Manage WIP, invoicing, and fee agreements

  • Collaborate with Directors on firm-wide strategy, business development, and growth initiatives

  • Represent the firm at client meetings, industry forums, and networking events

Skills & Experience
  • CA/CPA qualified with at least 7+ years experience in business services and tax

  • Experience managing client portfolios and leading teams in public practice

  • Strong advisory skills with the ability to deliver insights beyond compliance

  • Advanced technical knowledge of tax, accounting, and legislative requirements

  • Excellent leadership, coaching, and mentoring capability

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a client-first mindset

  • Commercial acumen and ability to identify business development opportunities
