Payroll Manager – Leading North Queensland Employer | Townsville | Up to $140k + Super📍 Townsville | Permanent, Full-Time | Onsite Parking

I’m partnering with a well-known North Queensland organisation within the hospitality and entertainment sector that’s looking for an experienced and detail-focused Payroll Manager to lead their payroll operations. The Role
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you’ll lead a small team responsible for the end-to-end payroll of approximately 1,000 employees across a 24/7 operation. You’ll ensure compliance, manage internal controls, and act as the key contact for all payroll-related matters.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage accurate and timely fortnightly payroll for 1,000+ employees
- Lead and mentor two Payroll Officers, ensuring high performance and accuracy
- Oversee all statutory obligations – STP, superannuation, payroll tax, WGEA, and PAYG
- Interpret and apply enterprise agreements and modern awards (HIGA highly regarded)
- Maintain strong reporting, reconciliations, and audit controls
- Oversee payroll and time systems (TANDA and MicrOpay preferred)
- Partner with HR, Finance, and Operations to streamline and improve processes
- Drive ongoing compliance and system improvements
- 5+ years’ end-to-end payroll experience, including 2+ years in a leadership role
- Proven success managing payroll for 800–1,200 employees in a 24/7 environment
- Solid understanding of payroll legislation, awards, and enterprise agreements
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Advanced Excel and reporting experience
- Salary up to $140k + Super
