Salary: $85,000 - $90,000 plus Super
We are currently recruiting on behalf of a highly respected, family-owned business with over five decades of success. This business has consistently demonstrated a commitment to innovation, quality, and growth.
Due to ongoing expansion, they are seeking a skilled and motivated Payroll Officer to join their North Brisbane team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a varied role that encompasses end-to-end payroll processing, HR support, and elements of bookkeeping – offering excellent scope for long-term development.
About the Role Reporting to the Finance Controller and working within a collaborative administrative team, the Payroll Officer will be responsible for managing the full payroll cycle while supporting a range of HR and finance functions. This role would suit someone with strong attention to detail, a proactive mindset, and the ability to communicate effectively across departments.
Key Responsibilities Payroll & HR Functions
- End-to-end payroll processing (fortnightly)
- Manage compliance reporting: PAYG, payroll tax, superannuation, Child Support
- Maintain and reconcile payroll records and reports
- Coordinate onboarding and offboarding processes, including documentation
- Ensure accurate employee timekeeping and leave management
- Support HR documentation updates and policy management via Employment Hero
- Process Workcover and Apprentice/Trainee submissions
- Manage HR reporting, employee benefits, and staff registers
- Manage accounts inboxes, incoming correspondence, and documentation
- Oversee administrative elements including fuel cards, eToll, mobile accounts and consumables
- Provide support across finance team during peak periods or as required
- Assist with system and process improvements across payroll and HR functions
- Previous experience in a similar payroll or payroll/HR hybrid role
- Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation and compliance requirements
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Proficiency in MYOB and/or similar accounting/payroll software
- Experience with Employment Hero (desirable, not essential)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to prioritise, meet deadlines, and adapt to a dynamic environment
