My client is a leading Government agency responsible for the development of NSW communities. They promote positive change by planning projects to increase tourism and protect our environment.
About the Role:
My client is seeking a Team Leader to manage the Financial Reporting and oversee a team of six Accountants. This role operates with a high level of autonomy in which you will be fully accountable for the accurate content of reports and expert advice whilst simultaneously managing a team. You will be a confident decision maker who is focused heavily on collaborating with the Finance Director to implement new strategy and accounting processes.
You will lead a strong finance team with the ‘soft’ and ‘hard’ closing of financial statements and provide valid financial advice to several business units within the cluster.
Responsibilities:
- Manage financial close – month end, soft and hard closing
- Manage the internal and external reporting for the entire cluster
- Accurately record all assets and liabilities Approve financial (including cash management and forecasting) reports, briefs and proposals
- Prepare briefing notes and reports to present to the CFO, Finance Executive and Secretary directly
- Communicate financial results clearly to relevant stakeholders
- Review existing and introduce new financial policies
- Consult Finance Director on operational issues and conflicts
- Implement process improvement
- Provide specialist financial advice to entities within DPE cluster
- Recognise talent and team capability
Challenges:
- To provide expert technical knowledge on government legislation, accounting policies and standards
- To provide significant operational value to the government agency
- Ensure consistent compliancy with NSW Treasury and Audit Office against strict deadlines
