About the Company

You will be working for a Local Government authority based in the inner western suburbs. This is a full-time, Monday – Friday role, but 4 days a week could also be considered for the right person.

You will be initially working from home before they progress into a flexible hybrid model. The team embrace flexibility and so will work around what days’ work best for you to work from home. 

You will be joining a very collaborative, innovative team, so we are looking for someone who would be keen to add to that atmosphere, bringing ideas and suggestions to the table.

The incumbent to this role will still be in the organisation however will be working on developing and implementing a new HR System. They will be there to support you with any complex issues. You will also have the opportunity to assist with the new HR System.

 

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Review and implement HR policies and services to achieve corporate goals and objectives; and develop necessary performance indicators to measure success.
  • Respond to Executive Team requests for reports, policies, technical and operational advice in the areas of employee relations and generalist HR.
  • Develop coaching partnerships which empower managers to handle HR issues relevant to their area of operation within adopted HR frameworks.
  • Provide specialist advice regarding EA terms, conditions of employment, legislative requirements and the application of sound HR practices.
  • Liaise with Managers, staff, and Unions in the effective resolution of specialist employee relations issues.
  • Support line management to effectively undertake the performance management process, including the management of underperformance, misconduct, and incremental advancement
  • Administer and provide advice on remuneration issues, salary packaging and total remuneration packaging details required for governance, payroll and contracts of employment.
  • Establish relationships with key stakeholders.

 

You will have the following:

  • Degree or post-graduate qualification in a relevant HR discipline along with proven experience in HR or substantial experience in similar role.
  • Experience in employee relations and industrial relations matters
  • Sound understanding of delivering positive organisational HR outcomes.
  • Demonstrated facilitation, presentation, negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation.
  • Knowledge and experience in developing and implementing HR policies, systems, and procedures.
  • Strong understanding of legal requirements, Acts and regulations associated with all human resource management functions, as well as budgetary requirements.
