Job description
Financial Analyst - NSW GovernmentOur NSW Government client is seeking an experienced Financial Analyst to provide high-level financial management and strategic support to a large-scale transformation program. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional who thrives in a dynamic, project-driven environment and enjoys working closely with senior stakeholders to deliver meaningful results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review annual budgets in accordance with PRIME and ensure accurate planning, tracking, and reporting of budgets and forecasts.
- Deliver timely and accurate submissions of PTA/carry-forward requests, month-end adjustments, and other financial journals.
- Conduct detailed GL and cost centre reviews, ensuring account reconciliation and financial integrity.
- Prepare monthly management reports and PMO financial updates to support strategic and operational decision-making.
- Partner with Project Managers, providing real-time financial analysis, insights, and advice to help manage budgets and drive project performance.
- Provide value-add financial advice and assurance to the Program Director to support informed decision-making and effective contingency planning.
- Lead and consult on the financial aspects of briefing notes and project initiation documents, including financial modelling, costing, and variance analysis.
- Coordinate and deliver accurate and timely responses to requests, as well as other internal and external stakeholders.
About You:
- Proven experience in financial management, project accounting, or finance business partnering within a Government or large program environment.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex financial data to support decision-making.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with a proactive, collaborative approach.
- Experience using PRIME or similar budgeting/reporting systems is highly desirable.
- CPA or CA qualification.
